KOIA Hippocratic Philosophy of Living

At KOIA, we have adopted the ancient wisdom of the great ancient Greek physician and philosopher, Hippocrates, who was born on Kos island circa 460 B.C. Hippocrates developed the primordial theory of “ευ ζην”, meaning living well, which centers around the belief that nature is the greatest healer and that the holistic wellness of the individual is a game of balance within the body and its harmonious connection to the surrounding environment.

Hippocrates considered the natural environment to be inseparable from the individual and their wellbeing. The manifestation of human wellbeing revolves around four pillars: the physical space within which the individual spends their days, the quality of the air they breathe, the purity of water they have access to and the nutritional content of the food they consume, all of which determine both the quality and longevity of human life.

When all these parameters are at optimum levels, they form the ideal living framework that ultimately ascertains our wellbeing. KOIA embodies the luxury of being close to pristine nature and adapts the Hippocratic Principles of Wellbeing into a hospitality concept that offers unrivaled, rejuvenating holiday experiences that aim at reinstating the harmonious balance between individual and surroundings as a way to rekindle alignment for body and mind.
